President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov approved regulations on the State Concern 'Turkmennebitgazgurlushyk' (Turkmenneftegazstroy), an official Turkmen source said on Friday.
This is done in order to successfully address tasks set before the country's oil and gas industry in the 'National Programme of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030' and further improvement of the state concern's activity.
At present, one of the key projects in Turkmenistan is the construction of the internal 'East-West gas pipeline with a capacity of 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The project implementation is assigned to the Turkmengaz State Concern and Turkmenneftegazstroy. At the same time, foreign companies will deal with contract work.
According to experts, the next step would be constructing the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline to Azerbaijan for supplies to Europe. Another option could be implementation of a project the Caspian Sea gas pipeline to Russia via Kazakhstan.
'East-West' is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2015. Approximate cost of construction of the gas pipeline is over two billion U.S. dollars.
