Iran’s gasoline consumption has increased by 3.2 percent to 73.9 million liters per day during 147 days of the current fiscal year (started on March 20), Nasser Sajjadi, head of the Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, said.
The country’s liquid gas consumption also stood at 5,370 tons per day during the period which indicates a fall by 1.5 percent year-on-year, Sajjadi said, Mehr news agency reported Aug. 14.
He further said that averagely 72.5 million liters of diesel was consumed in the country on a daily basis during the 147-days period, 9.1 percent less compared to the same period of preceding year.
Kerosene and fuel oil consumption also decreased to 3.5 million and 9.1 million liters per day, he said, adding fuel oil consumption registered a huge fall of 65 percent year on year, meanwhile Kerosene consumption decreased by 7.4 percent in the period.
Sajjadi further said that ban on gasoline imports from Turkmenistan remains in place.
From the beginning of current Iranian fiscal year (March 20) no gasoline cargo was imported from Caspian Sea littoral states, he added.
The Islamic Republic currently imports only Euro-4 gasoline.
