Turkmenistan’s exports increase

In January-May 2017, Turkmen exports increased by 1.3 percent compared to the same period of 2016, the country’s government said, citing data from Turkmenistan’s State Committee on Statistics.

During the reporting period, export of Turkmen goods to Russia increased by 93.8 percent, the US – by 28.6 percent, the UAE – by 45.3 percent, Pakistan – by 137.3 percent, Georgia – by 77.2 percent and Italy – by 21 percent.

The volume of exports, excluding export of hydrocarbon resources, grew by 2.3 percent in January-May 2017 to reach $482.2 million.

In January-May 2017, export of electricity increased by 3.9 percent, export of wool – by 57 percent, export of rawstock – by 27 percent, while export of Turkmen textiles increased by 14.6 percent, said the message.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan’s imports fell by 21.6 percent in January-May 2017.

Import of consumer goods fell by 15.2 percent during the reporting period. Import of non-food consumer goods fell by 22.4 percent in January-May 2017.
