BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov.5
By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:
The volume of oil and gas production at Azerbaijan’s Galmaz field stood at 6,500 tons and 10.5 million cubic meters, respectively, since early 2019, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at SOCAR, told Trend.
He noted that Galmaz field consists of two parts, namely, underground gas storage, which also delivers condensate and the second part controlled by SOCAR’s Azneft Production Union.
Gulf Drilling Azerbaijan, subsidiary of Gulf Drilling Supply FZE (UAE), earlier told Trend that by the end of this year, it is planned to complete the drilling of three wells at Galmaz.
Galmaz underground gas storage was created in 1975 in north-west of Galmaz oil and gas field, which covers an area of 975 hectares.
Galmaz field is located in 75 kilometers from Baku, in north-east of Lower Kura depression.
A new compressor station was put into operation at Galmaz underground gas storage in May 2019. The purpose of commissioning this station was to increase the storage’s capacity from 1 billion cubic meters to 1.5 billion cubic meters.
The total production capacity of the station is 3 million cubic meters and it is expected to increase the storage’s daily productivity by 30 percent, from 10 million cubic meters to 13 million cubic meters.
