BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. The Absheron field in Azerbaijan has reported a gas production of 0.5 billion cubic meters during the initial ten months of 2023, Trend reports via the country’s energy ministry.
Azerbaijan's overall gas production for the same period reached 40.1 billion cubic meters, with the State Oil Company SOCAR contributing 7.1 billion cubic meters to the total.
This signifies a notable 4.2 percent increase in the country's gas output compared to the previous year, amounting to a growth of 1.6 billion cubic meters.
TotalEnergies and SOCAR have recently announced the start of production of the first phase of development of the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea, around 100 km south-east of Baku.

In the given timeframe, Azerbaijan's gas exports totaled 17.8 billion cubic meters, marking a 9 percent increase when compared to the corresponding period in 2022. Europe received 8.6 billion cubic meters, while Türkiye and Georgia received 7.5 billion and 1.7 billion cubic meters, respectively. Notably, the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) was responsible for delivering 4.3 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye.
