The total volume of transactions regarding state securities on the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to 8.62 billion manat ($5.07 billion) in 2020, and their number - 1,737 transactions, Trend reports, citing the exchange's reporting data.
Among the carried out operations, 1,161 transactions worth 7.6 billion manat ($4.4 billion), over 88 percent of the total, were made in the primary market. Of these, nearly 85 percent of transactions (804) were made on short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) in the total amount of 6.45 billion manat ($3.79 billion).
The secondary market of government securities accounted for 576 transactions in the total amount of 1.01 billion manat ($590 million). The share was 7.8 percent of the total amount and 11.7 percent of the total number of transactions on state securities.
REPO transactions on state securities amounted to 1.94 billion manat ($1.14 billion). In total, during 2020, the BSE had conducted 1,240 REPO transactions on government securities.
Over the past year, the number of completed transactions increased by 5.1 percent to 5,750.
The capitalization of the BSE on the last trading day of December 2020 increased by 10 percent compared to the beginning of the year and amounted to 3.96 billion manat ($2.33 billion).
