Iran launches industrial enterprises in West Azerbaijan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 25

As many as 79 industrial enterprises in the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) were put into operation during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), said Gholamreza Babaei, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

Babaei said that a total of 23.3 trillion rials (about $554 million) has been spent on these enterprises and 1,540 people were employed as a result.

“Within 5 months, the number of enterprises put into operation in the province increased by 17.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. As well as, the expenses on these enterprises also increased by 528.8 percent and employment by 40.5 percent,” he added.

The chairman noted that moreover, 777 enterprises in the West Azerbaijan Province were licensed to be setting up during the reporting period. These enterprises are expected to cost 64.3 trillion rials (about $1.53 billion) and about 10,600 people are to be employed after the launch of the enterprises.

According to him, 9 industrial enterprises in the West Azerbaijan Province will be put into operation within the "Government Week" in Iran (August 24 through August 30, 2021). About 12.5 trillion rials (about $298 million) will be spent on the enterprises and as a result, 288 people will be employed.
