BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. Payment card turnover through ATMs and POS-terminals grew in Azerbaijan in July 2022, Trend reports via the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, this figure totaled 5.09 billion manat ($2.9 billion), up by 1.87 billion manat ($1.1 billion), or 58.03 percent compared to 3.2 billion manat ($1.8 billion) in July 2021.

The total number of payment card transactions amounted to 52.2 million (growth of 79.49 percent over the year), out of which 4.32 million transactions worth 229 million manat ($134.7 million) were carried out abroad.

As many as 46.78 million debit card transactions worth 4.78 billion manat ($2.81 billion) have been carried out both within the country and abroad. Some 10.15 million transactions worth 2.6 billion manat ($1.5 billion) were carried out through ATMs within the country, whereas 13.02 million transactions worth 474 million manat ($278.8 million) – through POS terminals.

Bank customers executed 5.42 million transactions for a total of 313 million manat ($184.1 million) via credit cards (both within the country and abroad).

Some 355,000 transactions worth 70 million manat ($41.18 million) were carried out through ATMs, while 2.9 million transactions worth 123 million manat ($72.3 million) – through POS terminals.

The number of payment cards in Azerbaijan increased by 2.29 million (22.59 percent) from January through July 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 (10.13 million), reaching 12.42 million.
