"United Wagon Company" Research and Production Corporation, the biggest manufacturer of freight cars in Russia, will supply platform wagons to Azerbaijan, Trend reports on June 21 with reference to the company.
The platform wagons (60 feet long) intended for the transportation of timber cargo of 25 ton-force will be sent to Azerbaijan’s ATU TRANS LLC until February 2022.
The platform wagon model 13-6895 is characterized by a loading length of 18.85 meters, an increased body volume (158 cubic meters) and an increased carrying capacity (72.5 tons).
"These characteristics can greatly reduce the cost of transporting a ton of cargo as they make it possible to increase loading on a wagon by almost 40 percent compared to the analogues on the market (40 feet long) and transport three stacks of timber six meters long, remaining in a short-haul tariff," the source said.
"The platform is effective for transporting both light and heavy wood," the source said. "The platform has been equipped with bogies of model 18-9855 with an axle load of 25 ton-force, which greatly increases the operational reliability of the wagon."
"Thanks to the innovative running gear, the overhaul of railcar produced by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant increases to one million kilometers (or eight years), while analogues on standard bogies with an axle load of 23.5 tons-force are sent to the first depot repair after 210,000 kilometers (or after three years after the construction), while further scheduled repair - after 110,000-160,000 kilometers (or after three years).
"The service life of the flat wagon model 13-6895 is 40 years (compared to 32 years among analogues)," the source said.
The rolling stock of United Wagon Company appeared in the Azerbaijani railroad market in 2020. A batch of covered wagons and platforms for timber was shipped to ATU TRANS operator in the same year within the first contract.
