A total of 929.7 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in December 2021, which is 2.4 times more than in December 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
In turn, the volume of passengers transported over 2021 amounted to 7.5 billion people, which is 9.7 percent less year-on-year compared to 8.3 billion over last year.
Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 246.1 million people in December and 2.09 billion people over 2021, which is 2.2 times more and 7.5 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.
Almaty city is followed by the Karaganda region with 90.6 million people transported in December 2021 (an increase of 2.2 times compared to December 2020). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 577.08 million people, which compared to 896.1 million during the same period last year, indicates a 35.6-percent decrease.
Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in December 2021 (80.6 million people, up by 3.5 times). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through December 2021 amounted to 684.3 million, which is 2.2 percent less than during the same period last year (700.1 million people).
The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 3.7 million in December 2021, which is 2.2 times more than in December 2020.
The volume of passengers transported over 2021 was 33.3 million, which is 6.3 percent more year-on-year.
