Kazakhstan’s Air Astana reports drastic jumps in passengers turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 3

Kazakhstan’s Air Astana airline company has transported 6.6 million passengers in 2021, which is 79 percent more than in 2020, Trend reports citing the company.

The passenger turnover of the company amounted to 3.5 million people, which is a 59-percent increase. Passengers flying the budget amounted to 3.06 million people, which also is 109 percent more year-on-year.

The company has also transported 12,072 tons of cargo in 2021, including 6,700 tons via charter flights, which is 30 and 45 percent more than in 2020, respectively.

The company noted that the growth in passenger traffic indicates a rapid restoration of the company’s activites, which suffered as a result of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Air Astana launched regular flights to Batumi (Georgia), Podgorica (Montenegro), Colombo (Sri-Lanka) and Phuket (Thailand), as well as resumed flights to London, Delhi (India), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Dushanbe (Tajikistan) after the resumption of flights in 2020.

FlyArystan also launched flights on 10 mew internal destinations in 2021.
