ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 20. Turkmenistan and Iran discussed issues related to the establishment of feeder shipping between the ports of both countries, Trend reports.
According to the official source, these issues were discussed between Iranian officials and representatives of the Maritime and River Transport Agency of Turkmenistan (Turkmendenizderyayollary) during their visit to the special economic zone of the Amirabad seaport in Iran.
At the meeting, the Turkmen delegation was welcomed by representatives of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the Mazandaran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the heads of the Port and Maritime Organization of Iran and the Mazandaran economic zone.
During the meeting, the parties expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in the field of international trade and strengthening the role of the two ports in international transport corridors.
The Iranian side, in turn, announced its intention to sign in the near future an agreement on fraternal seaports between the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Amirabad Special Economic Zone.
Meanwhile, the port of Amirabad is one of the largest ports in northern Iran, which has 15 berths with an annual capacity of 7.5 million tons.
