Kazakhstan and U.S. have a great potential for successful cooperation in the future. Such conclusion was made by Chairman of Kazakh Majilis (lower chamber of the Parliament) Nurlan Nigmatulin and U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kenneth Fairfax at the meeting on Feb. 16, Majilis press-service reported.

Within the meeting Nigmatulin and Fairfax exchanged the views on urgent issues of bilateral cooperation and stressed strategic nature of bilateral relations. Moreover, Nigmatulin assured that future legislative activities of Majilis will be aimed at strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The parties paid particular attention to the issue of safety at the meeting. Majilis chairman expressed confidence that initiatives of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on nuclear safety and adoption of the Universal Declaration on a nuclear-free world will be developed at the second Summit on Nuclear Safety in Seoul scheduled for March.
