BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 19. Kazakhstan appeals to the geological departments of the EU countries for joint partnership in the sphere of digitalization, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said at the EU-Kazakhstan High-Level Platform of dialogue on economic and business matters, Trend reports via country’s government.

Smailov noted that the gross inflow of foreign investment in Kazakhstan increased by 54 percent in the first quarter of 2022, and amounted to $6.8 billion.

At the same time, the level of attracting capital to the mining industry increased by 35.7 percent, amounting to $3.5 billion, he added.

"We see that the EU is showing interest in the Kazakh mining industry. The potential for cooperation in this sector is huge. In this regard, we appeal to the geological departments of the EU countries to jointly partner in the sphere of digitalization, development of geological science and creation of industry infrastructure," Smailov also said.

According to the PM, a single Kaznedra platform (information system for geology and subsoil use) is being created, within the framework of industrial automation, by combining and integrating all existing information systems in the field of subsoil use.

“This platform will facilitate the provision of comprehensive service support to investors in the ‘single window’ mode,” Smailov emphasized.

Prime Minister Smailov also added that Kazakhstan is interested in advanced methods of geophysical research, in addition to traditional types of geological exploration.

"Taking this opportunity, I would like to once again confirm Kazakh determined intention to expand and strengthen our economic cooperation with the EU countries," Smailov said.
