BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 27. Kazakhstan is proposing to develop a ‘roadmap’ for the elimination of barriers on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said, Trend reports citing Kazakh government.
The proposal was put forward by Smailov during a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.
The sides discussed development of TITR at the meeting. It was noted that it is necessary to remove infrastructure restrictions on railway sections and seaports in order to increase the route's competitiveness, also to review the existing route tariffs.
"This project has strategic importance for our countries. Kazakhstan supports all initiatives to develop region's transit and transport potential, while maintaining a balance of stakeholder interests,” Smailov said.
