ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 30. An increase in gas consumption is predicted both in Kazakhstan and in the region, Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz JSC (national gas company), Trend reports.
"The gas industry in Kazakhstan has great development potential due to untapped resources and the unique location of the country. Consumption growth is predicted both in the country and in the region. All this strengthens Kazakhstan’s position as an energy player," Zharkeshov said.
In addition, the head of the national company spoke about a number of important investment projects that were completed this year. Among them are the construction of a looping of the Makat-North Caucasus gas pipeline, the launch of the second line of the Beyneu-Zhanaozen gas pipeline, and others.
Zharkeshov also provided information on the results of reforms and new opportunities for the gas industry in Kazakhstan.
Gas production volume for 2022 amounted to 53.3 billion cubic meters, or 103.1 percent of the 2022 plan. Commercial gas production amounted to 27.8 billion cubic meters, or 94 percent of the plan.
Domestic consumption of commercial gas in Kazakhstan amounted to 19.3 billion cubic meters, or 107.2 percent of the 2022 plan; exports were 4.6 billion cubic meters, or 85.1 percent of the plan.
The volume of liquefied petroleum gas production (supplied to the domestic market) amounted to 2.8 million tons, or 98 percent of the plan.
