ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 1. The volume of money transfers through international money transfer systems (IMTS) in Kazakhstan amounted to 162,700 transactions worth 54 billion tenge (about $120 million) in January 2024, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that, compared to December 2023, there is a decrease in the number of transfers by 25.3 percent and a decrease in the volume of transactions by 27.6 percent.
The share of money transfers carried out in January 2024 on the territory of Kazakhstan is 1.3 percent of the total number and 2.8 percent of the total amount of money transfers via IMTS.
The share of money transfers sent abroad is 98.7 percent and 97.2 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, banks in Kazakhstan and Kazpost JSC provide their clients with money transfer services through systems such as Zolotaya Korona, Western Union, Contact, MoneyGram, and other IMTSs.
IMTSs are used by the population of Kazakhstan both for making transfers within the country and for sending or receiving money transfers abroad.
