Kazakh Foreign Minister to participate in session of NATO Council in Brussels

(KAZINFORM) - Within the framework of an official visit to Brussels October 2-5 Foreign Affairs Minister of Kazakhstan Kassymzhomart Tokayev is expected to hold a number of meetings, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, spokesperson of Kazakh MFA, has reported at a briefing in Astana today.

Kazakh FM will meet, in particular, with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Secretary-General of EU Council and EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, European Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry Gunter Verheugen, European Commissioner for Trade Peter Mandelson, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht.

At negotiations the special attention will be given to Kazakhstan's entry into the World Trade Organization, Kazakhstan's presidency in OSCE in 2009, etc.

Mr. Tokayev is supposed to give a report on Role of Kazakhstan in provision of power security and effective dialogue of civilizations. He is going to take part in the session of NATO Council and give a lecture at the Royal Institute of International Relations under the theme Role of Kazakhstan in Central Asia and its relations with European Union as well, reports Trend.
