Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev Friday asked the European Union to assist his country in fighting against terrorism and corruption, Xinhua reported.
During a meeting with EU Special Representative for Central Asia Pierre Morel, Atambayev underlined that the main task of the new Cabinet is to provide stability and security in the country.
The head of the Kyrgyz government suggested that EU, in addition to already implemented projects, consider the possibility to assist law enforcement agencies of the republic in the fight against terrorism, corruption, and providing public safety.
Morel said that strengthening connections with Kyrgyzstan is necessary and every issue related to the bilateral cooperation is needed to be carefully discussed.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz government, about 40 different EU projects are being implemented in the country currently.
