Tajikistan's Isfara city records lowest petrol prices countrywide

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. The average prices for petrol in Tajikistan remained unchanged during the period from June 12 through 18 compared to the preceding week, Trend reports.

According to the report of WFP (World Food Programme), the retail market in Tajikistan had an average petrol price of 9.1 somoni ($0.83) per liter as of June 12, which represents a 19-percent decrease compared to the corresponding data in 2022.

Among the cities in Tajikistan, Isfara recorded the lowest petrol price at 8.2 somoni ($0.77) per liter on the reported date, showing a 2 percent decrease compared to the preceding week. This price has dropped by 24 percent year-on-year.

The highest petrol price in the country was registered In Murghob city - at 11 somoni ($1) per liter, which remained unchanged from the previous week. However, this price has decreased by 19 percent compared to the same date in 2022.

Meanwhile, in Tajikistan's capital city of Dushanbe, the petrol price remained unchanged from the previous week, standing at 8.6 somoni ($0.78) per liter. Compared to the corresponding data in 2022, the price has declined by 20 percent.

WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. The price data is collected through the network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and the average prices are recorded.
