DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 15. The average retail price for a liter of petrol in the markets of Tajikistan reached 9.6 somoni ($0.87) as of July 31, Trend reports.
As per the World Food Programme (WFP), gasoline prices were at 9.4 somoni ($0.85) on July 24, indicating a 2 percent increase within a week.
Comparing the figures to the same period in 2022, petrol prices in the country experienced a year-on-year decline of 15 percent.
Among the cities in Tajikistan, Istaravshan recorded the lowest gasoline price at 8.8 somoni ($0.8) per liter, representing a 15 percent decrease from the previous year.
On the other hand, the highest price observed in the entire country was in the Murgab region at 11.6 somoni ($1.05), showing a 14 percent drop compared to the previous year.
WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. The price data is collected through the network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and the average prices are recorded.
