Turkmenistan, Iran discuss strengthening of cultural ties

A meeting with an Iranian delegation headed by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyyed Mohammad Hoseini, who arrived in Ashgabat during the Days of Iranian Culture in Turkmenistan, has been held at the Foreign Ministry, the Turkmen embassy in Azerbaijan said.

It was stressed that cultural and humanitarian cooperation is an important aspect of Turkmen-Iranian bilateral relations, bearing a strategic and long-term character. respect and equal partnership in all key areas.

It was stressed that the Turkmen and Iranian people have ancient folk traditions. They are the heirs of original culture and art that had a positive impact on the development of universal humanitarian values. They have already become part of the world civilisation.

It was emphasised that bilateral ties are particularly dynamic due to the high level of trust and mutual respect between Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. These relations have acquired a qualitatively new content. They stressed the great potential of cultural relations and attach special attention to their development.

It was also stressed that there is great potential to conduct joint scientific research in the field of studying and promoting the rich cultural and historical heritage of two countries.

Participants of the negotiations said that regular, joint cultural events, meetings and festivals actively contribute to further rapprochement and mutual spiritual enrichment of two friendly countries. The fact that there are Iranian cultural figures in Turkmenistan, as well as Days of Turkmen Culture successfully held in Iran last year is a good example.
