BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Turkmenistan unveils the volume of areas sown for cotton, Trend reports citing Turkmenportal.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Esenmyrat Orazgeldyev, during the online cabinet meeting, reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov that to date, cotton has been sown in the country on an area of over 129,600 hectares.

All measures have been taken to ensure the timely sowing of cotton, in accordance with the norms of agricultural technology.

At the same time, at the end of 2021, the Government of Turkmenistan submitted for consideration a proposal to reduce the areas allocated for cotton in order to further grow vegetables and melons on them.

Furthermore, it is known that cotton growing is one of the main branches of the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan.
