BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. Turkmenistan and the International Center for Transport Diplomacy at the UN discussed the development of cooperation in the field of transport, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

These issues were discussed on May 1, 2023 in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan during the meeting of the Deputy FM of Turkmenistan Berdyniyaz Myatiev with the Executive Secretary of the International Center for Transport Diplomacy at the UN Igor Runov, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the international conference and exhibition on "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" (ITC 2023).

The conference is to be held on May 3-4.

During the talks, a constructive exchange of views took place on the interaction of the parties regarding a wide range of topical issues of cooperation in the field of transport.

The parties noted that Turkmenistan actively participates in the processes of developing and strengthening international cooperation on sustainable and safe transport, takes the initiative of a broad multilateral consideration of issues of ensuring stable and reliable international transport, as well as the adoption of important documents within international organizations, primarily in the UN.

Among the priority aspects of the partnership, the parties noted the further improvement of the legal and logistics base of the international and regional transport infrastructure.

In this aspect, Turkmenistan's activities on the development of important transport and logistics routes in the "North - South" and "East - West" directions, in particular, "Lapis - Lazuli", "Kazakhstan - Iran - Turkmenistan", "Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Oman", "Caspian Sea - Black Sea" and other interregional transport arteries.
