ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 8. Enterprises in the Lebap region, located in the east of Turkmenistan, produced cotton fabrics worth 40 million Turkmen manats ($11.41 million) from January through July of this year, Trend reports.
According to the data, during the specified period, the growth in the production of cotton fabrics by the region's enterprises amounted to 33.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, enterprises in the Lebap region produced cotton yarn in the amount of 186.4 million Turkmen manats ($53.2 million) from January through July 2023.
In general, the raw material for the production of these products was cotton fiber, produced by enterprises in the region in a volume of 40,000 tons.
The cotton industry is one of the key sectors of Turkmenistan's economy and has a long history in the country. Turkmenistan is known for its extensive cotton plantations and high-quality cotton, which makes this industry an important source of income and employment for the population.
