ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 31. The Turkmenabat Silk Production Association, located in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, manufactured silk products worth 21 million Turkmen manat ($6 million) from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
According to official data, during this period, the company produced more than 16 tons of raw silk, more than 2.1 million meters of cotton fabrics, 14,000 square meters of silk fabrics from silk waste, and 30 square meters of silk carpets.
Furthermore, in the first quarter of this year, the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association significantly exceeded production figures.
Silk is one of the most important agricultural products grown in Turkmenistan. The main silk production regions in the country are the Mary, Ahal, and Lebap regions.
One of the leading enterprises in the sericulture industry of Turkmenistan is the Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.
