Screening of passengers and baggage introduced at bus stations of Uzbekistan

The decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Agency for Automobile and River Transport of the Republic on the order of crossing the territory of the passenger bus stations by bus passengers and other persons came into force on June 30 in Uzbekistan.

According to the document, persons entering the territory of the bus stations, must pass through a checkpoint, equipped with a stationary metal detector, after stating the available metal objects, hazardous materials and items that are prohibited for carriage, as well as about belongings of foreign entities (parcels, packages, etc.), given to them for transportation..

Hazardous substances and items prohibited for carriage include firearms and bladed weapons, explosives and objects, toxic or poisonous substances of all kinds (without appropriate authorization document), compressed and liquefied gases, flammable solids, corrosive, malodorous and corrosive substances, transported without the sealed packaging.

If there is an alarm about the presence of metal objects goes off, manual metal detector is used, and in its absence personal search is conducted.

Outsized items, outerwear, and hand luggage, the internal contents of which can not be determined from the shadow image on the screen of introscope are also inspected manually.

Spot-checking of passport data and personal inspection of suspicious persons is allowed in order to identify and determine persons who are wanted. If necessary, inspection may be conducted with the use of sniffer dogs.

Persons who have implanted devices that stimulate cardiac activity, inspected by hand without the use of special equipment.

Inspection of baggage and luggage of passengers or other persons shall be conducted only in their presence.

Passengers must have a veterinary certificate, as well as cells or other devices for carriage of animals, birds and other fauna.

Amendments to the law On Railway Transport, providing access to the platform of railway station only to persons who have tickets, as well as the inspection of carry-on luggage, luggage and body searches of passengers came into force in September last year.
