Following the results of 2017, Uzbekistan’s Akhangarancement JSC, the biggest cement producer in the country, was recognized as the best among the related facilities that are part of Russia’s Eurocement Group holding company, a source in the management of Akhangarancement JSC told Trend.
The facility became the leader according to the analytic indicator of the earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA).
Eurocement Group holding company brings together 19 facilities of Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan with total capacity of 60 million tons of cement and is one of the five biggest companies specializing in cement production.
In 2017, Akhangarancement JSC increased cement production by 12,000 tons, or 1.01 percent to 1.9 million tons, clinker - by 30,000 tons or 2.2 percent to 1.4 million tons.
In autumn 2017, Eurocement Group holding company, which owns Akhangarancement JSC, signed an agreement with China’s Beijing Triumph International Engineering Co. for the construction of a new cement plant worth $163 million.
The facility with a capacity of 2.4 million tons will be commissioned in 2020. In the next five years, Uzbekistan plans to increase cement production twice, to 17 million tons.
