Baku, Azerbaijan, June 12

Trend:

The rate of customs duty on imported footwear is planned to be increased from 10 percent to 30 percent in Uzbekistan from July 1, Trend reports with reference to gazeta.uz. It is proposed to raise the minimum threshold for a pair of shoes from $1.5 to $ 5.

From the same date, it is proposed not to tax the locally produced raw materials and semi-finished products for intra-industry sales.

Additionally, it is planned to provide price preferences of up to 20 percent to local manufacturers in the public procurement of footwear, leather goods, wool, karakul and artificial leather products, including government procurement by strategic actors.

The draft resolution proposes to establish, starting from January 1, 2021, a fee on the value of exported products at a rate of 20 percent when exporting a leather semi-finished product across the customs border of Uzbekistan.

It is planned to exempt the foreign consultants of Uzcharmsanoat, Association for show production, and foreign specialists working at the enterprises of the leather-footwear and fur industries from the individual tax payment in the amount of 50 percent of its established rate.

Discussion of the draft document will last until June 23.
