TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN, June 27. Currently, UAE's Masdar company is developing 4 projects in Uzbekistan, Head Of Engineering at Masdar Ibrahim Almansour told Trend.
"We have a project for construction of Zarafshan wind farm, which will generate 500 MW. We will reach financial close within a month or two," Almansour said.
Almansour noted that Masdar is planning to sign an agreement with the government of Uzbekistan on extension of Zarafshan project to expand the capacity of the wind farm from 500 MW to 1.5 GW in general.
"Along with that this year we have been awarded with 3 projects in Uzbekistan that are part of IFC's Scaling Solar Program," the head of engineering said.
According to Almansour, the total capacity of these three projects is 1GW.
He added that Masdar is also planning to reach financial close on these three projects by the end of 2022 and will start construction immediately after that.
