BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 24. Uzbekistan exported some 7,000 tons of grapes worth $6.6 million in January 2023, which is an increase of 36.6 percent, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports via State Statistics Committee.
In January 2023, Uzbekistan overall exported 67,500 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $58,400 million. Fruit and vegetable exports decreased by 11.3 tons compared to the figure for January 2022 (78,600 tons).
Besides grapes, the largest share in the export fell on cabbage – 8,800 tons, followed by dried grapes – 7,500 tons, mug beans – 6,300 tons, tomato – 3,300 tons, pomegranate – 3,200 tons, prunes – 2,200 tons, and peanut – 900 tons.
The main importers of Uzbek fruit and vegetables were Kazakhstan (23,500 tons), Russia (15,300 tons), China (7,400 tons), Kyrgyzstan (5,500 tons), Pakistan (4,800 tons), Afghanistan (2,600 tons), Türkiye (1,400 tons), Belarus (800 tons), and Iran (700 tons).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan produced more than 1.7 million tons of grapes from January through December 2022, increasing by 3.9 percent, compared to the reporting period in 2021. In 2022, Uzbekistan exported 318,900 tons of grapes worth $280.1 million during the corresponding period.
This figure increased by 34.4 percent compared to the figure for last year. Some 24.7 percent of the export share fell on grape export (including dried ones).
