Sales on Uzbek secondary vehicle market surge

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 17. Uzbekistan's secondary market for passenger cars witnessed significant growth with sales exceeding 98,000 cars in September 2023, Trend reports.

The increase signifies an increase of 800 cars compared to August 2023, demonstrating a notable upward trend.

Results of the third quarter of 2023 reveal a substantial rise in sales within the secondary market for passenger cars, with a notable increase of 15.5 percent.

As per figures by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), vehicle sales in Uzbekistan reached a total of 148,000 units in September 2023, reflecting a 0.1 percent decline compared to August of the same year. However, this figure indicates a substantial 20 percent increase when compared to September the previous year.

Within this context, the sales of passenger cars amounted to 137,000 in August, marking a modest 1 percent increase within just one month. Notably, several regions in Uzbekistan experienced notable growth, with the Ferghana region leading with a 19 percent increase, followed by a 9-percent rise in Namangan, and a 5-percent rise in the Khorezm regions.

Taking a broader view, the data for September demonstrates an 18-percent upswing in passenger car sales compared to the same month in the preceding year. The cumulative sales of passenger cars have surged by a notable 26 percent, reaching a total of 404,000 cars.
