Uzbekistan sees yearly trade growth with ECO countries

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 8. The trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) countries from January through September 2023, amounted to about $9.2 billion, Trend reports.

The share of the ECO member countries in the total volume of trade turnover of Uzbekistan in the specified period reached 20.5 percent.

The amount of exports from Uzbekistan to the ECO countries in the first nine months of this year amounted to $4.2 billion, and imports - $5 billion (an increase of 3.3 percent).

Furthermore, the volume of trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the ECO countries increased by 10.4 percent to $12.4 billion last year, while the share of ECO in the country's foreign trade amounted to 24.7 percent, and the volume of exports increased by 6.3 percent to $5.75 billion, exceeding last year's figures.

Imports increased by $6.62 billion last year, and a third of total exports (29.8 percent) came from ECO countries.

Kazakhstan and Türkiye held the largest share in trade with Uzbekistan, accounting for 37.5 and 26.3 percent, respectively, followed by Kyrgyzstan (10.2 percent), Turkmenistan (7.5 percent), Afghanistan (6.1 percent), Tajikistan (5.5 percent) and others.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with ECO countries amounted to $11.2 billion in 2021, an increase of 35.1 percent compared to data for 2020.
