TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 27. Uzbekistan plans to develop a cargo terminal at Namangan International Airport as part of its modernization project, Trend reports.
The announcement came during Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to the Namangan region.
The project will also include the construction of catering and
fueling complexes, as well as other economic buildings.
The passenger terminal capacity is planned to expand to 1,000
persons per hour. The cargo terminal will increase capacity for
business, exports, and transportation.
Furthermore, the project intends to upgrade the fleet of special
equipment capable of accepting and maintaining any type of
airplane.
The head of state issued instructions to improve the airport's
efficiency and underlined the importance of increasing local and
international flights to fully capitalize on logistics potential.
One of the most important jobs is to guarantee that tickets are
affordable.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has initiated 47 projects worth $4 billion in the Namangan region.
The projects cover various sectors such as construction materials, electrical engineering, chemical, textile, and food industries, pharmaceuticals, medicine, mining, fish farming, and others.
