TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 28. Uzbekistan has launched production of the Kia Sonet car, which will be manufactured in the Jizzakh region, Trend reports.
This car becomes the first Kia model that will be produced in Uzbekistan on a full technological cycle, including welding and body painting.
The cost of a Kia Sonet with a 1.5-liter engine is estimated at about 200 million soums ($15,870).
The Kia plant in Jizzakh provides a warranty on the car for 5 years, or up to a mileage of 150,000 kilometers.
Exact prices and configurations will be announced in April.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan manufactured 15,657 passenger cars in January 2024, which is 2.92 times more year-on-year.
As per data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the automotive industry produced 3,369 Chevrolet Cobalt, 2,105 Chevrolet Gentra, 3,865 Chevrolet Damas, 1,355 Chevrolet Tracker, and 836 Chevrolet Оnix in January 2024.
The country also produced 1,418 Chery cars, 2,644 Kias, 3 EXEEDs, and 62 Havals.
