The sanctions have made Iran's economy stronger, the chairman of the House of Regional Representatives of Indonesia said here on Monday.

"We are so sorry that a number of countries have imposed sanctions against Iran. We believe that the sovereignty and authority of each country should be respected," the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network quoted Irman Gusman as saying.

Talking on the sidelines of his meeting with the Iranian Commerce Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari, the Indonesian official said that, "The trade value between the two countries should be boosted."

According to Gusman, Tehran-Jakarta direct flight will be launched soon.

Iran and Indonesia's annual trade value currently stands at $700 million.

The two countries expect that with the implementation of the preferential tariffs agreement the trade level between the two Islamic states will reach $2 billion by next year.

At present main commodities exported from Iran to Indonesia include petrochemicals, tomato paste, dates and tea, while various kinds of paper, furniture, iron and natural rubber comprise imported items from there.
