Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on people to actively participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iran, Mehr reported.

The 9th Majlis elections are scheduled to be held in Tehran on March 2, 2012. Some 5,283 people passed registration to participate in previous parliamentary elections.

The principles' bloc won a majority of seats in the 275-seat legislature in the last parliamentary elections in Iran, which were held in 2008.

Iran's Supreme Leader today met with numerous scientists and officials from Eastern Azerbaijan, where he made the remarks.

"Iranian people must show vigilance and tact at the upcoming elections," Khamenei said.
"The nation must stand strong and the enemies will have no chance, as Iranian people cannot be defeated".
