Iran has been exporting 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) crude oil to South Korea in the past couple of weeks.

This is a new record for Iran's oil export to the East Asian country, International Affairs Director of the National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Qamsari told Mehr news agency June 7.

He noted that although Iran has restarted selling oil to European giants such as Lukoil, Total, and Saras, Asia is still Iran's biggest market.

He also predicted that this summer, the country's crude export to European countries will hit 600,000 bpd.

Iran's crude export to South Korea stood at 100,000 bpd before the lift of the economic sanctions imposed on Iran.

In the period from January to April, Iran's oil and gas condensate export reached 30 million barrels, or 113.5 percent more as compared to the same period last year.

Back in January, the country's crude export stood at 1 mbpd, but now, it stands at 2.3 mbpd, the same as Iran's pre-sanctions export rate.
