The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and its Indonesian counterpart Pertamina have signed a deal which will have the latter company study two Iranian oil fields of Abteymour and Mansouri.

The arrangement came in the form of an MoU and a confidentiality agreement signed by NIOC CEO Ali Kardar and Pertamina CEO Dwi Soetjipto, SHANA news agency reported August 8.

Abteymour and Mansouri are two oil fields situated in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Kardar said the NIOC is seeking international cooperation to attain its developmental goals now that it can speed up its activities thanks to the removal of economic sanctions on Iran.

Soetjipto for his part said Indonesia is interested in importing crude oil and petrochemical products from Iran.
