Iran’s Wagon Pars company inks contract for railcar production

An agreement on the production of 8 passenger railcars has been signed between Iran’s Wagon Pars company and the Raja Rail Transportation Company in the Arak district of Iran’s Markazi province, said Mohammadreza Mokhtari, executive director of Wagon Pars, Trend reports via IRNA.

He said that 33 railcars were handed over to Raja Rail Transportation Company in accordance with the agreement signed earlier.

He added that the cost of the contract for the production of railcars is 15 trillion rials (about $357 million) and the railcars will be produced and delivered by the end of March 2020.

He noted that Raja Rail Transportation Company has decided to repair the existing 55 German-made railcars, given their old age.

“Raja Rail Transportation Company has handed over the repair of these railcars to the Wagon Pars company by signing a contract worth 900 billion rials ($21.4 million),” he said.
