The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) is to offer natural gas at Iran Energy Exchange, the Managing Director of Iran Energy Exchange(IRENEX) Ali Naghavi told Trend in an interview.

"The National Iranian Gas Company's request to offer natural gas to the energy exchange has been approved," he said.

The stock exchange official indicated that the NIGC can use the energy exchange mechanism to export gas and supply the domestic market.

The company was previously obligated by the budget bill for the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) to offer 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the Iran Energy Exchange.

According to the official, the gasoline offered by the National Iranian Oil Product Distribution Company at the energy exchange was very limited in the current Iranian year due to the rise of gasoline consumption in the country.

The government effort was to supply domestic needs therefore the National Iranian Gas Company did not have the ability to offer gasoline at the energy exchange in July.

The gasoline sale initiative started in October 2019 when NIOPDC sold 3,000 tons of octane 91 gasoline to Afghans via the energy market.
