Public budget of Azerbaijan (January-July 2014)

The actual revenue in the revenue part of Azerbaijan's state budget amounted to 11.1 billion AZN in January-July 2014 (32.6 percent of GDP) reducing by 2.5 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

State budget expenditures increased by 0.9 percent to 10.3 billion AZN (30.3 percent of GDP).

The budget surplus for January-July amounted to 774 million AZN, which made up 2.3 percent of GDP.

Some 4.4 billion AZN (39.6 percent) in the structure of revenues is ensured by the Ministry of Taxes.

Revenues from customs duties and taxes amounted to 868.1 million AZN (7.8 percent), from other sources - 5.8 billion AZN (52.6 percent).

Tax collections increased by 7 percent, the customs duties - by 13.6 percent and revenues from other sources decreased by 10.4 percent compared to the same period of last year.

During the reporting period, some 1.8 billion AZN were received from VAT collection, which represents 16 percent of total income; profit tax revenues amounted to 1.6 billion AZN (14.2 percent), income tax - 549 million AZN (5 percent), excise tax - 466.5 million AZN (4.2 percent), property tax - 82.6 million AZN (0.7 percent), land tax - 21 million AZN (0.2 percent), tax on mineral resources - 74.9 million AZN (0.7 percent), and the tax on foreign economic activity - 431.9 million AZN (3.9 percent).

Some 1.1 billion AZN of the budget (with a share of 10.8 percent) was directed to social security and protection of the population; education - 833.3 million AZN (8.1 percent), health care - 345.8 million AZN (3.4 percent), maintenance of the prosecution, security, law enforcement, judicial bodies - 562.6 million AZN (5.5 percent), investments in the economy - 4.6 billion AZN (45 percent).

Some 2.233.5 billion AZN (21.7 percent) of public expenditures was spent on payment of salaries, pensions and benefits.

The state budget revenues for 2014 are planned to hit 18.384 billion AZN, while expenses - at the level of 20.063 billion AZN.
