Monitoring of protest moods is to be constantly carried out by each work team in enterprises that are part of the National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna in Kazakhstan, the head of the Centre for Social Partnership at Samruk-Kazyna Fund Nurlan Yerimbetov told journalists.

"We have identified 40 indicators for making an assessment of a particular company on the possible occurrence of labour conflicts. This means we will determine the workers' mood before and after work in a particular team, his salary and his family situation, where he prefers to rest, whether he takes a loan out and so on, "Nurlan Yerimbetov said.

This analysis will be carried out by the Centre for Social Partnership jointly with the Kazakh Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.

"According to survey results, the diagnosis of each company will be determined by the following system: red colour - explosive situation, yellow -anticipation of conflict and finally green- the situation is normal," he added.

Responding to the question how he personally assesses the situation in Zhanaozen in anticipation of anniversary of mass riots in Zhanaozen, Yerimbetov replied that he would mark the situation with yellow.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, oil and gas workers are dissatisfied with their wages more than others. The analysis on protest moods in the enterprises discovered two 'tender spots': non-payment of wages and dissatisfaction with the wage level. Dissatisfaction over wages occurs mainly in the oil and gas sector and is about 43 per cent of the workforce.
