A meeting of the Georgian government held Dec. 2 amended the government decree #57, dated March 24, 2009, "On the procedure of issuing building permit and permit terms."

Under the amendment, not the president, but the government of Georgia will decide which agency should issue a necessary permit for construction, the mayor of the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, David Narmania, told reporters.

"From now on, the Georgian government, but not the president, will decide who has the right to issue a construction permit. The amendment is technical in nature," he said.
