Georgia’s cars re-export to Kazakhstan surges

Georgia’s cars re-export to Kazakhstan in January 2022 totaled $2.7 million, which is an increase of 657 percent, compared to $357,000 over the same month of 2021, and by 125 percent, compared to January 2020 ($1.2 million), Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of the re-exported cars in the reporting period of 2022 totaled 300 cars, which is an increase of 971 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (28 cars), and 185 percent - compared to January 2020 (105 cars).

However, the value of Georgia’s car re-export to Kazakhstan in January 2022 decreased by 27 percent, compared to December 2021 ($3.7 million), while the volume decreased by 36.4 percent (472 cars).

Thus, Kazakhstan ranked third among the main importers of cars from Georgia over January 2022, following after Azerbaijan ($21.8 million) and Ukraine ($3.8 million).

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total re-export of cars in January 2022 amounted to $36.3 million, which is an increase of 46.3 percent, compared to $24.8 million over the same period of 2021. However, the same figure decreased by 33.1 percent, compared to $54.3 million in January 2020.
