Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan. 19

Azerbaijan and Israel are important partners and they have great potential to develop their relations in the future, Zvi Rav-Ner, deputy director general on Eurasia affairs at Israel's Foreign Ministry, told reporters Jan. 19 in Baku.

Israel would like to learn from Azerbaijan's experience in the energy sector, he said.

"Perhaps, Israel too will enter the hydrocarbon resources' market soon. We don't have such experience in this field, as Azerbaijan does. We, in turn, could share our experience in other fields with Azerbaijan," Rav-Ner said.

Israel has huge experience in high technology, medicine, agriculture and others, he added.

"Israel also would be happy to have investors from Azerbaijan," according to him.

Further commenting on the lifting of international sanctions on Iran, Zvi Rav-Ner noted that this step will not affect the relations between Azerbaijan and Israel.

"Israel is sceptical about Iran's fulfilling all the terms of the nuclear deal. We hope that the money Iran will earn after the sanctions are lifted will benefit the Iranian people and will not be used for other purposes," he noted.

The sanctions on Iran were lifted on Jan. 16, according to the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 (the US, the UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany).
