Azerbaijan will improve its tax legislation, tax minister Fazil Mammadov said at the forum Tax System in Azerbaijan: realities and prospects, held in Baku on Thursday.
"First and foremost we work for the tax system of the country which is the main requirement for successful implementation of plans for the long-term strategic development of the country, to be stable and predictable," he said.
He said that one of the important issues in this regard is to complete the process of improving the tax legislation.
"About 11 years have passed since the Tax Code was adopted," he said. "Despite this, the country's legislation during this period has significantly improved. We think that we should reconsider the tax legislation in the context of new economic relations and rapid pace of development," he said.
He said that the process of public discussion over the Tax Code began in January-February with leading experts, business representatives and relevant state agencies.
"We think that by working closer with public organisations and business circles to improve the process of tax legislation by studying their proposals, we will be able to make certain changes in tax legislation in the medium term," he said.
