Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 19 / Trend H. Hasanov /

Itera completes the construction of gas pipeline in Turkmenistan, which will connect the block of fields 'Central Karakum' with the main gas transportation system "Central Asia - Center", the report said.

According to the plans, it will be put into operation in June this year.

Annual capacity of the pipe is 3 billion cubic meters, a distance of 200 kilometers. The customer of the project is state concern Turkmengaz.

The project is estimated at more than $ 150 million. Agreement on the implementation of the project, providing for the construction of the linear part of the pipeline was signed by Itera in May last year.

At this stage, linear part of the pipeline has been prepared. Construction of high-voltage power lines and fiber optic communications facilities has been completed. Pipelines are checked for leaks.

Now equipment of automatic control system (ACS) is being installed. A self-financing gage unit that provides precise control over the volume of natural gas pumped through the pipeline is being assembled.

Several small deposits of hydrocarbons were discovered in the Soviet era within the project "Central Karakum". But earlier their development was disadvantageous.

The company notes that some part of  gas is transported to China now. Moreover, pricing environment was changed. Industrial mining of fields is economically justified.
