Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a letter of congratulations to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the bright victory of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party in the parliamentary elections.
The president said the Turkish people's choice shows confidence in the Justice and Development Party, as well as recognition of its outstanding contribution to the development of the state.
"Links between the ruling parties of our countries have great influence on strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkey," the letter published on Ak-Orda official website read.
In his message Nazarbayev wished the Turkish Prime Minister health and success, welfare and prosperity to the people of Turkey.
Parliamentary elections in Turkey last Sunday gave the ruling party a third consecutive term in Parliament. According to the results of 98 percent of the votes, Justice and Development Party won with about 50 percent of the vote (327 MPs).
The Republican People's Party ranked second (25.8 percent of votes, 135 MPs), and the Nationalist Movement Party ranked third (13.6 percent of votes and 53 MPs).
Observers from the Parliamentary Assemblies of the OSCE and the Council of Europe said the elections were well-organized, democratic and demonstrated pluralism, but also showed a need for improvements on fundamental freedoms.
