Georgian former Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili will be formally charged on Dec. 26 in connection with the tortures in prison No 8 in Tbilisi, Georgian Chief Prosecutor Archil Kbilashvili said at a press conference today.

He said that the decision has been made.

Kbilashvili said that the investigation in connection with tortures in prisons is being intensively conducted and prosecutors scrutinize all the details.

Chief prosecutor said the charges against Akhalaia are known. The investigation is underway and it is now inappropriate to disclose the issue.

Kbilashvili also stressed that the examination was conducted in connection with the scandalous photos of tortures in prisons.

"The examination was conducted to identify the photographed individuals," Kbilashvili said. "No montage was revealed."

At present, Adeishvili is not in the country and once failed to appear for questioning.
